WHAT WE DO

Our Adult Day Services provide a full day of activities. All of our services and programs are tailored specifically to each members’ unique needs.

Our member services  translate to a positive impact on our community. With programs that promote community outreach through volunteering as well as acquiring employment. 

OUR MISSION

Our mission is to be a provider of choice that enhances the quality of life of individuals with developmental disabilities by providing services and support that maximize independence, promote community involvement, and provide vocational opportunities to help those individuals achieve the life they desire. 

It is with a heavy heart we share the passing of James "Jim" Adkins

Jim was an asset to STAR and worked on our ODOT Contract. He was selfless, thoughtful, and an extremely hard worker. Our individuals loved him and Jim treated them like family. Please keep Jim’s family, STAR individuals, and STAR staff in your thoughts and prayers as we navigate another loss.
James “Mr. Jim” Adkins Obituary
1969 – 2025
James Roscoe “Mr. Jim” Adkins 55, of Greenup KY went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 27, 2025, at his residence following a sudden illness.
He was born in Ashland KY on August 13, 1969, and was the son of Everett Ray Adkins and Janet Carol Harr Dixon.
He was a retired custodian for the Greenup County Schools System. He loved to sing karaoke, play music and loved to spend time with his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Jesse Perry Elvis Dixon and Jackie Spears.
He is survived by a son, Isaac James Adkins (Sabrina) of Greenup; two grandsons, Braxton Adkins and Waylon Adkins; his father, Everett Ray Adkins and his wife Becky of Lynn; his mother, Janet Carol Harr Dixon of Greenup; two brothers, Jason Robert Adkins and his wife Kendra of Lloyd, Joseph Robert Ray Riley of Paris KY; a sister, Jamie Leanne Gibson of Raceland along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH

Renee Howard was awarded STAR, Inc. Adult Services February Employee of the Month! Renee received a trophy, check, and prime parking spot for the month. Renee was chosen for being dedicated to her job and being a great mentor to new hires. She loves our individuals and always shows kindness no matter what kind of day she is having.
